Classy working clothes?

I am sure that some of you out there, have had the need to dress smart at least once in their lives.
At that time, you wonder if you seem serious enough, but you might also wonder if there is any way you can make your look a tiny bit... more fun?
Because, let's face it, although black is a colour well known for its elegance and slimming powers, well... it still happens to be a dull colour. One you wouldn't wish to wear EVERY day.
So here are three things you have to bet on, to make you working clothes a little more fashionable while totally acceptable in a working environment:

#3 : A "working" closet is not limited to two colours (black and blue)
Do not be afraid to bet on : Electric prune for your pants, Carmin (that would be for the top), Indigo, Cacao or Gres. There is a rather long list of shades that you just don't have to be afraid of. If you are wearing a bright colour, associate it with a simple white shirt or some beige pants. You don't want to be making a statement, just to bring some fun to the table.

#2 Your shoes !
They sometimes just happen to be the "make-it or break'it" element in an outfit. Go nude if you wear what I like to call "happy" colours however, if you're wearing a rather basic ensemble oh pretty please, go crazy once in a while ! Don't be afraid to buy some flats which scream "I have some energy" with some crazy graphic design. And also, shoes are the one place where you're allowed to have as many colours as you want going on. So bring it on !

#3 Accessories !
Oh girl come on. Those damn accessories bring a final touch, subtle and glamorous. Go for a big turquoise necklace or a simple pair of golden, long earrings. They make you look like you take care of yourself and your image and add a little je ne sais quoi... Even a discreet fantasy ring can close the deal with the fashion devil. I promise you, you'll feel twice as sexy and confident.

Now go get your glam on.
Leave some comments if you have any suggestion.

The Surfer Look

I'm back from a few days spent in Sydney. The weather was incredible and the guys very cute.
Thinking at the time about the next article for my blog (this one), I thought it was necessary to have a good problematic. Articles about colorful mini-shorts, hippie looks and badass sunglasses have already been written and overdone. The light bulb in my head suddenly lit up as I started thinking about "the surfer look".
It then came to me that the existence of an actual natural surfer look was not certain.
So, does the surfer look even exist?
I mean, sure, you can put some fake tan on, drench your hair in salted water and wear board shorts or a bikini and then say Tadaaa.
But really, what is the surfer look? Is it the superficial hot guys we see on the billboards or is it something else?
To me, it's a bit more than that. I found out during my stay in Australia, that the surfer look requests the surfer lifestyle.
To those desperately wanting to achieve the surfer look, here is what I say:
Go to the beach once a week at the very least
Learn how to surf
Own a surfboard
Eat beach-stuff... like... well. Just eat something.
Wear appropriate clothes depending on your situation
Oh, and don't forget to be blond and sexy ;)

And if you can't do all that, then, it's okay ! You don't have to "own" the surfer style at the beach to be noticed or cool. That last point is partially optional by the way.

I hope you liked my weird way of thinking and my random articles, please leave a comment. Thanks !

Timberland: The Revolution

The other day I saw a girl wearing her brand new Timberland shoes, looking extremely satisfied.
Here is the thing, these past few years, Timberland has been extremely successful and has actually become also ...well, fashionable.
You ladies (or men) have heard right, these shoes can be pretty sexy.
Why has Timberland shoes become such a big deal, in 5 points:

#1 They're comfy ! Just the idea of slipping those little toes in such comfortable shoes is a master green light.
#2 Well, they keep you warm. Just like UGG boots they are warm and fuzzy inside. For people living in the UK, Europe in general or even north America, those shoes can come in handy when the thermometer takes unwanted plunges underneath the 0 degrees line.
#3 Although they all look the same from far away, you'd be impressed at how many different designs there are. I kid you not, a pair that fits your very own style exists. I was not even sponsored by this brand ! More seriously, some of them exist with pattern, you can get some fluffy ones, some that are knee-height... you see what I mean.
#4 Their lovely colour, yes, you read right. The sort of nude/suede colour that goes with everything, from a pair of normal jeans to a long hippie-like skirt. And if you still do not like it, their colours can be very warm, with anything from a dirt-brown to a navy blue or even khaki .
#5 The quality. Those are expensive for a reason, they last. Finally shoes that are actually made for walking. Whether it's in the wild streets of a megalopolis or simply in the actual wild.

Feel free to leave a comment. I appreciate the time spent reading this article !

Starting off in the "Model Industry": What you should be careful about

How would I know anything about this. Right? Isn't that the question you were going to ask me?
And here is the answer: Connections.
Growing up, I would always be the one sticking out in class pictures. I'm tall, I'll gladly admit to that, but not gigantic. I'm 5'9ft or approximately 175cm and there's this old adage in french which says "Qui se ressemble s'assemble" or in other words "Those who look like each other get together".
Okay, let me simplify it all: I have a lot of tall friends because, unconsciously, as tall, medium or small people, we identify and feel closer to the ones who are the most like us.
My friends are model-height and have a model-weight. So naturally, some were recruited by modelling agencies.
So here are 3 important things you should be careful about:

#1_  If they make you pay for your portfolio

If an agency really wants you, they will organise a photoshoot without asking you to pay for any of it. If they do, then RUN and do so very far away because it smells very fishy.

#2_ If you're under 18

If you are under eighteen, get recruited by an agency but they don't ask your parents to come to the meetings or their signed permission before they do anything with you, RUN.
And run far away. Sexual predators still exist, there can never be too much prevention.

#3_ If they ask you to lose a dramatic amount of weight

Annnd, I am serious. You should get ready to adopt a healthier lifestyle than the one you used to lead, but you cannot start dramatic diets. Nope ! Pro-anorexia sites are to ban from you vocabulary. Models on catwalks might be thin and slender, but don't get too carried away...SO you can ask one of your friends or family members (you have to trust them) to check on your diet every 2 or 3 days so they can make sure nothing gets out of hand. Eating disorders come faster than you think.

That's it for my advice, my expertise stops here. Hope this helped at least one of you.

Oscars 2014 Fashion Review: The Couples

Yes, here we are, already a day later, is it too late to write this article?
I don't know to be fair, the industry of fashion is so crazy and hectic that as soon as something mesmerising is what's trending, there needs to be a new invention.
This article is going to be short, there's no need for me to go on about the class these couples have or about how beautiful and not human they are.
So here they are, the most charming couples of Hollywood...
From left to right: Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, Matthew McConaughey and Camila Alves, Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan-Tatum
Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith
I'll just make some general comments:
#1 The colours that seem to be predominant are the skin-toned grayish ones, a bit of silver or light pink are in the same bag. So shades of fresh colours were what seemed to harmonise the best with dates.
#2 Long. Those dresses aren't short. Did I just say the same thing twice? I think so. Those dresses don't take a lot of room in the closet but once they're worn, it's as if they get to deploy their wings. Elegance.
#3 Hair is tied in an elaborate chignon or straightened and pushed back. The haircuts are not what counts, the gowns and couples are.

That's basically all. I stayed very simple with this article. Hope you liked it.

P.S: Make-up is sparkly. I think everyday should be sparkly day.

Are the 80s back in?

I was wondering for a few days, if the 80s fashion was "in" again...
I happened to reach odd conclusions.
I read somewhere that in times of crisis, bright colours were "in". I somehow happened to agree with that statement, maybe because people need something positive and luminescent in their dark lives or maybe because it's just an odd coincidence.
In the 80s, it was all about showing your curves, in anyway you like and it really still is.
Avant-gardistes started introducing zen ways of life to society while organizing huge raves. Mini-skirts were "da bomb" and huge earrings were nearly required to be considered cool while everything oversized was considered fashionable.

If we just looked at nowadays fashion for a typical teen, we would see that girls don't even feel like they need to wear a skirt anymore, some don't mind going outside in their underwear. This might be an extreme example, but not too far from reality, shoutout to Miley Cyrus.

Anything vintage is awesome, so here comes gigantic jewelry and TeeShirts that are longer than the shorts they wear.

In conclusion, I'd say that the 80s were never really "out", style just keeps changing, coming and going.
We're only 30 years later and real fashion takes decades to change.
I am very serious, I'm not writing about trends, but about the norms of society.
I am pretty sure you would not be able to tell me the difference between fashion in the 1700s and fashion in the 1750s, simply because it all looks so similar. In a few hundred years, I am sure it will be the same way for people looking back at right now.
Now, there's a hundred years difference in the first and the last drawing, is it very obvious for us? I think not.

We are just carrying the fashion of the 80s, while adding our own little touches!

Oscars 2014 Women Fashion Review

Since this is a fashion blog, here is what we will get on to:
The beautiful, breathtaking, dreamy gowns every woman gets to wear once they set foot on the magical red carpet.
Here are my top 5 absolute favourite dresses of this year's Oscars.

#5 Anna Kendrick

I found her dress to be unusual, but it is evident that the designer thought of every detail and I loved the precision in this dress. Although it is not usually what I would consider my "style", I thought she pulled it off quite charmingly. The flow created by the dress is very classy ! I give her 8/10.
 #4 Sandra Bullock

This woman just know what to wear. She isn't in her twenties and might not be able to pull-off huge decolletages but she still knows how to pull her weight. The colour of the dress is fantastic, it reminds me a sky during a hot summer night... Poetic, isn't it? The bracelet she is wearing gives the final touch to an already beautiful dress. Coco Chanel used to have a rule which was to take away the accessory we last put on. This made me think I am so very glad she is not wearing a necklace. I give her 8.5/10

#3 Lady Gaga
What a change ! What a diva ! Oh my, how impressed I was when I saw her... The first thought that rushed through my mind was that she looked like what an oscar statue would look if it was real and a female.
Golden and Majestic. I give her a 9/10.

#2 Charlize Theron

I did not see that coming. But then again, I am usually rubbish at predicting fashion, I just happen to enjoy and admire it. She was the black angel of the night. To be very honest I am extremely surprised that she did not get more attention. Fashion magazines aren't giving her as much praise and don't acclaim her as much as they should. This woman is the example of eternal youth and this dress sublimes her in every aspect.
Moreover I just love the contrast between her blonde hair and the black dress, this is PER-FECT.
This deserves a 9.9/10 .
#1 Lupita Nyongo

How very original of me. I do apologise for my lack of originality in my choices but she HAD to be first on the list. Aaaah, exquisite tastes shall be recognised when they are around. You will see for yourself, this has to be a 10/10... well done to her stylist. She should absolutely get a raise.
I wish I could look like a graceful, floating princess...

Please remember these are my opinions and tastes and is in no way a real professional list, you are welcome to comment on this. Thank you for your time ;)

Perfumes

How ironic, my first article won't even be about fashion but about my favourite perfumes.
I do as I like, that is the spirit of a young rebellious teenager afterall.
So here are my top 3 favourite perfumes ever:

#3 DKNY, Cherry Blossom

It's sweet and sugary, awesome for spring and when you're in a good mood.
I also love the design of the bottle.

#2 GIORGIO ARMANI, ACQUA di GIOIA

I happen to love the freshness of this perfume, very light so amazing to wear during summer. I also found this perfume not too expensive, it was a nice surprise.

#1 GIVENCHY, Very Irresistible Electric Rose

What can I say, when I spray it I feel sexy and more confident, I wear it every time I go out.
It's elegant and still something a young person can easily wear: I say YES !

Please send me some feedback on your favourite perfumes as well, hope you liked this article.
